The Njombe Regional Police Force is holding Imani Mbilinyi (25) a resident of Maleutsi village, Makete District in Njombe Region on suspicion of murdering his grandfather Elia Mbilinyi (90) and beheading him near his home.
The brutal incident took place on the eve of October 14, 2020 at around 2pm where it is alleged that the suspect after committing the murder decided to surrender to the local Chairman of Luswaganga in the village.

For his part, the Chairman of Usadanga Sub-district, Exavery Mbilinyi where the killings took place, said after being informed of the reports he decided to call the village ranger and put him in custody and then informed the police who arrived that night and took the suspect.

According to the family member of the late Fulamu Mbilinyi, along with the local Ambassador there was no dispute of any kind between the accused and the deceased who is his grandfather.
For his part, Dr. Nolasisi Haule from Makete district hospital who examined the body of the deceased has mentioned the reasons that led to the death of the old man.

Njombe Regional Police Commander Hamis Issa, has confirmed the incident while explaining that legal action will be taken against the suspect along with urging the public to stop the practice of taking the law into their own hands.

Kwa upande wake Mwenyekiti wa Kitongoji cha Usadanga, Exavery Mbilinyi yalikotokea mauaji hayo, amesema baada ya kuelezwa taarifa hizo aliamua kuwaita mgambo wa kijiji wakamuweka chini ya ulinzi na kisha wakatoa taarifa polisi ambao walifika usiku huo na kumchukua mtuhumiwa huyo.

Kwa mujibu wa mwanafamilia wa marehemu Fulamu Mbilinyi, pamoja na Balozi wa mtaa huo hakukuwa na mgogoro wa aina yoyote baina ya mtuhumiwa na marehemu ambaye ni babu yake.
Kwa upande wake Daktari Nolasisi Haule kutoka hospitali ya wilaya ya Makete ambaye ndiye aliyeufanyia uchunguzi wa mwili wa marehemu amezungumzia sababu zilizopelekea kifo cha mzee huyo.

Kamanda wa Polisi Mkoa wa Njombe Hamis Issa, amethibitisha kutokea kwa tukio hilo huku akieleza kuwa hatua za kisheria zitachuliwa dhidi ya mtuhumiwa sambamba na kuwataka wananchi kuacha tabia ya kujichukulia sheria mkononi.
