The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Dodoma Urban Member of Parliament, Anthony Mavunde, has congratulated the Dodoma Water and Sanitation Authority (DUWASA) for being able to cooperate with the people in solving the water problem despite all the existing challenges.

He said this yesterday during his visit to the Nzuguni area where five wells have been dug in the area.

"I congratulate President Samia Suluhu Hassan for solving the challenge of water shortage in the city of Dodoma, we thank the President for the long-term medium and short-term plans to solve this challenge." Mavunde said

He said that he as a Member of Parliament will continue to advise the government on the best way to get water before the implementation of big projects starts and put money in the drilling of deep wells in the periphery so that we can get reliable water.

Giving information on the implementation of the Nzuguni sanitation project, the Chief Executive Officer of DUWASA, Engineer Aron Joseph said that more than 37,000 residents living in the Nzuguni zone in Dodoma hope to benefit from the water project after it was discovered that there is a basin with a lot of water in the area.

"The areas where research and drilling are going on are owned by the people and once the works are completed, a valuation exercise will be carried out to pay compensation in order to seize them for the use of the authorities."

He noted that the project will increase the production of clean water from an average of 67.8 million liters to 75.5 million liters per day, equivalent to an increase of 11.4 percent of the current production.

"This increase will increase 11.7 percent of the current needs of the entire city of Dodoma, which is 133.8 million liters per day," he said.

On his part, the Head of the Dodoma District, Jabir Shekimweri, congratulated DUWASA for the move while advising it to continue with speed to get water to other areas.

In addition, he advised the citizens who complete the projects to be paid their money in advance so that the area remains a source of water and those who build it should be informed about the issue of planting trees to take care of the environment.

Also, he advised DUWASA to consider the health of consumers by ensuring that the water stream does not interfere with the sewage system.
